In this movie version, directed by David F. Sandberg (from "Annabelle 2"), there are strong influences of the classic 'Big' - the protagonist, Billy Batson, is a boy who gains magical powers and turns into the "Most Powerful Mortal on Earth" by yelling the magical word "Shazam!", becoming an adult in the process. The protagonist, in his grown-up version, is played by Zachary Levi from the series "Chuck". With a focus on humor and without major moral dilemmas (which mark the movies of other DC heroes), this film guarantees unpretentious fun for the whole family."
