Gabriel Yulaw is a police officer confronted with a sinister form of himself escaped from an advanced, parallel universe and intent on killing Gabriel. His alter ego's hunt culminates in a fateful battle between good and evil that changes Gabriel's perception of reality and forces him to examine the evil hidden within himself.
"It's Jet Li against Jet Li in this action and science fiction movie. In 'The One', the honorable police officer Gabriel Yulaw (Li) must face a lethal version of himself, who travels from one alternate universe to another killing all his "other selves" in order to become stronger. It's a movie with a very 2000s sensibility: cheesy dialogue, special effects that are already showing their age, and a multiverse premise for which, perhaps, the audience of that time was not ready. But there are excellent fights with Jet Li, and that's always entertaining to watch."
