Why watch this film?
In honor of their 5th anniversary, the immensely popular Korean girl group ‘BLACKPINK’ is releasing a worldwide theatrical event to their fans. It features never-before-seen footage and interviews, as well as clips from their shows to give the audience a unique concert-like experience.
"Korean Pop, or K-Pop, has become a global sensation, and there's no doubt that the all-female group BLACKPINK is one of its biggest exponents, so it's no surprise that they are the subject of several documentaries. That said, in 2020 Netflix released ‘BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky’, a production of the American studio Radical Media which follows the protagonists as they assimilate their success after releasing their 2016 debut album. In 2022, Disney+ releases ‘Blackpink: The Movie’, now a South Korean production in which the artists celebrate five years since their debut, with interviews and concerts. In other words: those wanting to learn more about the K-Pop group won't find much new here (especially if they watched the Netflix documentary). Nevertheless, this movie will leave fans very satisfied, especially for the spectacular concert images."
