"Movies about witches were very popular in the 1990s and this theme was lost, but if it depends on 'Akelarre', witchcraft can return to the spotlight. This Spanish production, very well directed, shows a group of young people who must fight for survival in the 17th century. Director Pablo Agüero did an impeccable job in conveying the feeling of claustrophobia to make the audience understand what these girls are going through. Agüero also shows the psychological aspect of the inquisitors, which is an interesting approach to be portrayed. 'Akelarre' has excellent performances and a powerful script that works as a hymn to the freedom of the feminist movement narrated in 1609."
